Microsoft and Wyoming Governor Matt Mead announced plans to expand the data center operation in the North Range Business Park west of Cheyenne.
At the annual LEADS Banquet, Governor Mead announced that the Microsoft data center, which opened in late 2013, is set to add a second data center, with Microsoft agreeing to invest $274 million in the new facility. Microsoft's investment in Cheyenne will total $500 million by summer 2015.
At the banquet, Mead hailed the development as a victory for Wyoming, where an amenable climate is combined with affordable energy and a statewide investment in fiber optics have made it the top choice.
